1997 Honda Prelude SH Long-Termer: Still Smitten

The Honda Prelude SH is one of those cars that you don’t expect to forget. It was the last of its kind, and it had everything to offer for its time. It had agile and precise handling, a rev-happy engine, and a smooth ride quality that put it in a class of its own. I’ve had the pleasure of owning one of these cars for longer than two decades, and it remains one of my most cherished automotive memories.

The Prelude SH was Honda’s glory days, when the engineering behind its cars was top-notch. From its independent suspension system to its finely tuned power steering, the Prelude SH was a masterclass in driving dynamics. It had plenty of power to take on a twisty mountain road, yet it could cruise comfortably on the highway. It was, as I like to say, a “one-size-fits-all” kind of car.

The Prelude SH was also very reliable. Throughout the years, I’ve taken my car on long drives, and it has never betrayed me. The Honda’s reliable nature makes it a great car for those long-distance jaunts. The engine is resilient and always ready to kick in with plenty of power when you need it. This car will also last a long time if you take good care of it. I’ve certainly done my part in taking care of my long-term Honda through the years.

The Honda Prelude SH still holds a special place in my heart. It’s a unique breed of car, with a character and performance that stands head and shoulders above other sports cars from that era. It’s timeless, reliable, and still capable of eliciting a huge grin from me every time I get behind the wheel. That’s why I will always be smitten with the Honda Prelude SH!
